Public Speaking
This course teaches the fundamentals of the oral communication process. It is recommended for students who desire to become more skilled in speaking before a group, thinking logically, expressing their opinions persuasively, and in developing self- confidence in group situations. Students will receive instruction in composition and research techniques as they relate to writing and analyzing speeches.
Informative (mandatory)Students will research, write, and deliver an original speech that informs the audience. The topic will be chosen by the student and must be approved by me.

Persuasive (mandatory)Students will research, write, and deliver an original speech that attempts to persuade the audience. The topic will be chosen by the student and must be approved by me.

Other Speeches (choice)Students will also have the opportunity to deliver other speeches of their choosing, including poetry, humorous, serious, radio, demonstration, legislative authorship, and others.
